MEDIUM
Nitram Charcoal on Fabriano Roma paper

DESCRIPTION
Chasing Flowers began in 2014 as an investigation of light and atmosphere in floral drawings, drawn in the medium of charcoal on cotton paper. Floral drawings and paintings are usually of a vibrant palette; one usually thinks of flowers in colour. What comes forth, then, when flowers drawings are limited to the range of black and white, when different species sit closely together in a bundle; what will one see? In addition, when one places the restriction of only drawing from life and not from photographs, one is confronted with the decay of nature. Different flowers wilt at a different pace; the rhythm of nature’s decay thus becomes the master of my drawing process.
