Golden Gate Atelier

Golden Gate Atelier in California offers complete classical training for the realist artist. Students draw and paint from life using the sight-size method, and they also receive a thorough grounding in constructive drawing, anatomy and perspective. All of GGA’s programs are dedicated to craftsmanship and to the skillful use of materials and techniques. Students work in all genres including still life, landscape, portraiture and figurative art.

Andrew Ameral is Director of the Golden Gate Atelier (GGA) in Oakland, California, where he is also an instructor. Andrew was born in San Francisco and graduated with honors from the California College of Arts and Crafts in Oakland. He studied painting at the Florence Academy of Art where he was the Director of Anatomy and a principle drawing instructor. Andrew has worked as an illustrator and has taught for the graduate program of the San Francisco Academy of Art University. He has also taught workshops at a number of schools including Stanford University, the Grand Central Academy in New York, the Academy of Realist Art in Boston, the Conservatory for Classical Art in Oklahoma, and the Ashland Art Center in Oregon.
