A RICH DARKNESS

WITH NITRAM CHARCOAL

“Grand Canyon” by Nathaniel David Anderson, 92cm X 122cm, Nitram Charcoal

“Grand Canyon” is a special piece, marking my first attempt to capture this awe-inspiring natural wonder. The challenge lay in portraying the intricate layers of rock and the interplay of light and shadow on such a magnificent landscape. This piece holds personal significance, as it is a gift for my sister, who serves as a park ranger at the world-renowned National Park.
Having only recently started working with Nitram Charcoal products, I am very pleased with the quality and outcome it brings to my art works. I particularly love to play with Nitram Powdered Charcoal, because it’s not only so fine but it releases a black darkness that is very rich. I tend to approach with the philosophy that the darker the tone, the richer the piece, and Nitram has become my preferred charcoal for fine art.”

~ Nathaniel David Anderson

Born in California, USA, self taught artist Nathaniel David Anderson who calls Creede, Colorado home, is best known for his intimidatingly intricate charcoal illustrations. A bit of a vagabond, the artist’s first charcoal drawings were documentations of the Amazon rainforest, where he canoed the river in its entirety after failing from university. Dedicating himself to his art since, capturing scenes of the Rocky Mountains, Anderson’s work has begin to emerge prominently throughout the American Southwest. Always inspired by travels, and with a strong connection to the wilderness, Anderson’s work captures a timeless mood that can be felt in his work; Stoic, Mysterious and Hauntingly Beautiful. @nathaniel_d._anderson_art | nathanieldavidanderson.com
